Elford railway station was a railway station serving the village of Elford and the manor of Haselour Hall in Staffordshire. History It was opened by the Midland Railway in 1850. Elford is a village and civil parish in Lichfield District, Staffordshire, England.OS Explorer Map 232 : Nuneaton & Tamworth: (1:25 000) : It is on the east bank of the River Tame, about east of the City of Lichfield and 5 miles north of Tamworth. Origins The village is said to have derived its name from the great number of eels with which the river here formerly abounded. Midland Railway
The Midland Railway (MR) was a railway company in the United Kingdom from 1844. The Midland was one of the largest railway companies in Britain in the early 20th century, and the largest employer in Derby, where it had its headquarters. It amalgamated with several other railways to create the London, Midland and Scottish Railway at grouping in 1922. Harlaston is a village and civil parish in Staffordshire, England. It lies on the River Mease, about north of Tamworth. There is an Early English church, dedicated to ''St Matthew'', and a public house, the ''White Lion''. Harlaston is a conservation area, and has won the Staffordshire Best Kept Small Village award 5 times.
