The Eleutheros Cooke House at 410 Columbus Avenue in Sandusky, Ohio is the oldest surviving house in Sandusky. It is a Greek Revival style house that was built in 1827 by Eleutheros Cooke, one of the first settlers in the area and its first lawyer. The original front porch of the house saw General William Henry Harrison receive a flag from the women of Sandusky, in 1835. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Greek Revival was an architectural movement which began in the middle of the 18th century but which particularly flourished in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, predominantly in northern Europe and the United States and Canada, but also in Greece itself following independence in 1832. William Henry Harrison
William Henry Harrison (February 9, 1773April 4, 1841) was an American military officer and politician who served as the ninth president of the United States. Harrison died just 31 days after his inauguration in 1841, and had the shortest presidency in United States history.
