Elena Eliseenko
Elena Pavlovna Eliseenko (born 5 May 1959) is a Russian former professional tennis player. She was a singles and doubles gold medalist at the Friendship Games, an event held for countries boycotting the 1984 Olympics. Eliseenko represented the Soviet Union in a total of 14 Federation Cup ties, between 1978 and 1985. She featured in three quarter-finals, including a tie against Great Britain in 1981 where she took Sue Barker to three sets. During her Federation Cup career she won two of her six singles rubbers and lost only once in eight doubles rubbers. While competing on the professional tour she appeared in the main draws of both the French Open and Wimbledon. 1984 French Open – Women's Singles
Martina Navratilova defeated the defending champion Chris Evert in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1984 French Open. With the win, Navratilova completed a non-calendar-year Grand Slam, dubbed the 'Martina Slam', and became only the second woman in the Open Era to simultaneously hold all four major singles titles (after Margaret Court in 1970). Sabrina Goleš (born 3 June 1965) is a former Croatian tennis player who competed for SFR Yugoslavia. Biography Sabrina Goleš was ranked no. 3 among juniors in the world in 1983 (in the juniors, she won the Italian Open and Rolex Port Washington, reached the semifinals at Roland Garros and the Orange Bowl, and the quarterfinals at the US Open). Goleš competed for SFR Yugoslavia at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where she made it to the finals, losing 6–1, 3–6, 4–6 to Steffi Graf. Petra Huber (born 15 February 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Austria. Biography Junior career Before turning professional, Huber competed with success on the junior circuit. In 1982 she partnered with Judith Polz to make the girls' doubles semi-finals at the Australian Open and quarter-finals at the French Open. She was a semi-finalist in the girls' singles event at the 1983 French Open. Professional tennis Huber made her first WTA Tour final at the 1984 Miami Classic, which she lost to Laura Arraya. She reached the round of 16 at the 1984 US Open to obtain her highest career ranking of 37 in the world. In 1986 she won the Spanish Open as an unseeded player. The Championships, Wimbledon
The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.
