Electric Pictures is an Australian-based television production company which develops and produces factual television programs for various international networks. The company is based in Perth, Western Australia and was founded by Andrew Ogilvie who also acts as CEO. A subsidiary company, EP Independent, distributes Electric Pictures programming. Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. ''Drain the Oceans'' is an Australian and British Television documentary, documentary television series that premiered on 28 May 2018 on National Geographic (U.S. TV channel), National Geographic. The 25-part factual series is hosted by Russell Boulter, and explores shipwrecks, treasure and sunken cities using Underwater archaeology, underwater scanning system, scientific data, and art digital recreations. Andrew Ogilvie from Electric Pictures and Crispin Sadler from Mallinson Sadler Productions produced the series for National Geographic. ''Drain The Oceans'' was preceded by similar National Geographic productions: ''Drain the Great Lakes'', ''Drain the Titanic'' and ''Drain the Bermuda Triangle''. ''Aussie Gold Hunters'' is an Australian factual television show which follows crews of gold prospectors in Australia. The series is produced by Electric Pictures and began on the Discovery Channel on 15 September 2016. The series has been a ratings success and gone on to air in 125 countries including the United Kingdom. In August 2022 the series was renewed for an eighth and ninth season, with season eight to premiere in 2023. Season seven concluded on 13 October 2022. Premise The series follows gold miners in various locations of Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland as they strive to reach their individually set season target (measured in troy ounces of gold). Discovery is a television channel available on cable and satellite television in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian version of the US Discovery Channel was previously operated by XYZnetworks, who also own the exclusive distribution rights for the channel.
