Electoral District Of Woothakata
The electoral district of Woothakata was a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Queensland. It was first created in a redistribution ahead of the 1888 colonial election, and existed until the 1912 state election. Woothakata electorate covered the western Atherton Tableland and the total catchment area of the Mitchell River on lower Cape York Peninsula, including the towns of Chillagoe and Herberton. Woothakata was abolished in the 1911 redistribution being split into the existing electoral district of Cook (northern part), the new electoral district of Eacham (eastern part) and the new electoral district of Chillagoe (south-eastern part). Shire Of Woothakata
The Shire of Mareeba is a local government area at the base of Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, inland from Cairns. The shire, administered from the town of Mareeba, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008, when it amalgamated with several councils in the Atherton Tableland area to become the Tablelands Region. On 20 March 2013, Mareeba residents voted in favour of a proposal to reverse the amalgamation and to re-establish Mareeba Shire. The new Mareeba Shire was re-established on 1 January 2014. Edward Granville Theodore
Edward Granville Theodore (29 December 1884 – 9 February 1950) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of Queensland from 1919 to 1925, as leader of the state Labor Party. He later entered federal politics, serving as Treasurer in the Scullin Labor government. Theodore was born in Adelaide, the son of a Romanian immigrant. He left school at the age of 12, and spent the next decade working his way around the country. He arrived in Queensland in 1906, and soon became involved in the labour movement. Theodore was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1909, aged just 24. He was also elected state president of the Australian Workers' Union in 1913. Theodore became Treasurer of Queensland following Labor's victory at the 1915 state election. In 1919, Theodore succeeded T. J. Ryan as premier. Michael Joyce Reginald Woods (1857 - 12 November 1934) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Woods was born in Parramatta, New South Wales, the son of the Michael Woods and his wife Sarah (née McCreah). He was educated in Goulburn and he spent all his working life in the railways. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. It has functioned in the state since the 1880s. History Trade unionists in Queensland had begun attempting to secure parliamentary representation as early as the mid-1880s. William McNaughton Galloway, the president of the Seamen's Union, mounted an unsuccessful campaign as an independent in an 1886 by-election. William Henley Rawlings
William Henley Rawlings (28 February 1848 – 5 August 1906) was a member of both the Queensland Legislative Council and the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Rawlings was born near Bristol, England, to William Rawlings and his wife Margaret Eliza (née Edwards). Trained for the sea, he sailed to Sydney in 1869 and on to New Zealand where he engaged in seafaring on the west coast for several years. In 1875, he was back in Australia and working as a miner in the Parkes goldfields. Moving to Queensland and settling in the Herberton district in 1883, he undertook several jobs including labourer, assayer, miner, and prospector. By 1890, he was working as an Organiser for the Charters Towers Miners' Union.
