The Shire of Murilla was a local government area located in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. The shire, administered from the town of Miles, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1879 until 2008, when it amalgamated with the Town of Dalby and the Shires of Chinchilla, Tara and Wambo and the southern part of Taroom to form the Western Downs Region. History Murilla Division was created on 11 November 1879 as one of 74 divisions around Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879'' with a population of 761. The Kidstonites or Kidston party were a political party in the Australian state of Queensland in 1907 to 1908, formed by William Kidston. The party resulted from a split in the Queensland Labor Party and spent most of its existence in government, before merging with the conservative faction of Robert Philp in October 1908, to form the Liberal Party. William John Harlin Moore (10 September 1866 - 14 October 1933) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life Moore was born at Boort Cottage, Brighton, Victoria, Brighton, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, the son of John Moore and his wife Charlotte (née Harlin). He was educated at Ipswich State and Ipswich Grammar School, Boys' Grammar Schools and in Queensland and Hurstville College in New South Wales.
