Electoral District Of Concord
Concord was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of the Australian state of New South Wales, created in 1930, and named after and including the Sydney suburb of Concord. It was abolished in 1968. History The suburb of Concord was part of the five member district of Ryde under proportional representation. Proportional representation was abolished in 1927, with the suburb of Concord being split between Ryde and Eastwood. Eastwood was abolished in the 1929 redistribution and the new district of Concord was created, being entirely south of the harbour, from Concord in the east to part of the suburb of Lidcombe. Parramatta is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is currently held by Geoff Lee of the Liberal Party. Thomas Murphy (Australian Politician)
Thomas Patrick Murphy (13 December 1906 – 11 September 1978) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1953 and 1968. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP) and held the minor government position of Assistant Minister in 1964–65. Biography Murphy was the son of a railway worker and was educated in Patrician Brothers schools in rural NSW. He worked as a clerk in the New South Wales Government Railways between 1923 and 1953. During World War Two he served in the Middle East with the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps of the Second Australian Imperial Force and reached the rank of sergeant. Following demobilization, Murphy settled in Concord in the western suburbs of Sydney and became involved in community organizations including the Returned and Services League of Australia and the Hibernian Australian Catholic Benefits Society, a provider of health and other insurance. John Clark Adamson (12 May 1910 – 8 March 1984) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for a single term from 1950 until 1953 . He was a member of the Liberal Party. Adamson was born in North Sydney, New South Wales. He was the son of a solicitor and was educated at Parramatta High School and Sydney Teachers College. He worked as a school teacher in Rozelle, New South Wales between 1938 and 1950 and was an alderman on Marrickville Municipal Council between 1944 and 1948. Brice Mutton
Brice Mutton (8 January 1890 – 7 December 1949) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for nine months in 1949. He was a member of the Liberal Party. Early life Mutton was born in Lerryn, Cornwall and was the son of a carpenter. He was educated to elementary level in Cornwall and became a builder. He emigrated to Australia in 1913 and was employed at Cockatoo Docks as shipwright and later established his own building business. He moved to Concord, New South Wales in 1923 and became active in community organizations including the Parents and Citizens Association and the Police Boys Club. Mutton was elected as an alderman of Concord Council between 1942 and 1949 and was the mayor from 1942 to 1944 and in 1947. William Joseph Carlton (2 May 1894 – 30 January 1949) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly between 1935 and his death. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party (NSW) and Labor Party. Early life Carlton was born in Newcastle, New South Wales and was the son of a waterside worker. He was educated to elementary level and was employed by the New South Wales Government Railways as a boilermaker's assistant. He became an organizer for the Australian Railways Union. Stanley Allan Lloyd JP (8 December 1889 – 28 April 1967) was an Australian politician. He was born at St Leonards in Sydney to salesman William Lloyd and Sarah Eliza, ''née'' Beard. Henry James McDicken (27 September 1874 – 20 October 1944) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Early years Born, Henry James Argue McDicken in Newcastle, New South Wales, he was the third child of Isabella Agnes Argue, an emigrant from Ireland, and Hugh McDicken, a compositor from India, who had been engaged by Sir Henry Parkes when he founded ''The Empire'' newspaper in 1850.
