Electoral District Of Light
Light is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. Light is named after Colonel William Light (1786 – 1839), who was the first Surveyor-General of South Australia. The electorate was created in 1857, abolished at the 1902 election and recreated at the 1938 election. It is based on the semi-rural township of Gawler, and stretches southwards into the outermost northern suburbs of Adelaide. Covering a total area of 62.36 km2, Light consists of the suburbs of Buchfelde, Evanston Gardens, Evanston Park, Evanston South, Gawler, Gawler East, Gawler South, Gawler West, Hewett, Hillier, Kudla, Munno Para, Munno Para Downs, Munno Para West, Reid, and Willaston. Tony Piccolo
Antonio Piccolo (born 22 February 1960) is an Australian politician in the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party as member for the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Light since the 2006 election. He is currently serving as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly. Early life Piccolo was born in Naples, Italy, and emigrated to Australia in 1963 with his parents. He was educated at Evanston Primary School, Gawler High School and the University of Adelaide, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Economics. He was elected to the District Council of Munno Para in 1985, then became a councillor for the Town of Gawler from 1985 to 2006, serving as deputy mayor with a few short breaks from 1989 to 2000 and as mayor from 2000 to 2006. Evanston Park is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is on the southeastern side of Gawler. It is on the eastern side of Main North Road and Adelaide Road extending north from near the intersection with Gawler Bypass Road. The Liberal Party of Australia (South Australian Division), commonly known as the South Australian Liberals, is the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia. It was formed as the Liberal and Country League (LCL) in 1932 and became the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party when the Liberal Party was formed in 1945. Willaston, South Australia
Willaston is a northern suburb northeast of the Adelaide city centre in South Australia. It is located in the Town of Gawler. History William Paxton and Samuel Stocks obtained land in the area in 1848 and 1849. After Stocks died in 1850, Paxton laid out the village called Willaston. The village may have been named after Willaston in Cheshire, due to a probable association with the Stocks family. Willaston Post Office opened on 1 November 1864. Munno Para Downs is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Playford. The suburb was named in 1983 from part of the district of Munno Para. The boundaries were adjusted in 2011 after the construction of the Northern Expressway. Munno Para is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Playford. In the local Kaurna dialect, Munno Para means ''golden wattle creek''. Kudla is a locality in the northern Adelaide suburbs, 34 km from the city centre, just south of Gawler. It is in the Town of Gawler local government area. Geography Kudla is bounded by Main North Road, Dalkeith Road, Angle Vale Road and Gordon Road. Coventry Road is the most significant road through the area, approximately southwest to northeast.
