Division Of Robertson
The Division of Robertson is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. Geography Federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined since 1984, at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Redistributions occur for the boundaries of divisions in a particular state, and they occur every seven years, or sooner if a state's representation entitlement changes or when divisions of a state are malapportioned. History The division was proclaimed at Federation in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election in 1901. The division was named for the fifth Premier of New South Wales, Sir John Robertson. The Division of Robertson was originally anchored in rural central NSW, encompassing the area around Dubbo, Mudgee and Wellington. William Bridges-Maxwell
Crawford William Bridges-Maxwell (27 September 1929 – 15 April 1992) was an Australian politician. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, he was educated at Geelong Grammar School and then the Royal Agricultural College in England, after which he became a veterinary scientist. Lucy Wicks (politician)
Lucy Elizabeth Wicks (née Warren; born 1 January 1973) is a former Australian politician. She was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing Division of Robertson in New South Wales, from 2013 until 2022 when the House was dissolved. At the 2022 federal election, Wicks suffered a 7.3% swing, and she conceded defeat to Australian Labor Party Candidate, Gordon Reid. Early life Wicks was born in Canberra on 1 January 1973. She is the oldest of five children born to Mary (née Gilligan) and Max Warren. On her mother's side she is a descendant of Francis Gilligan, an Irishman who was transported to Australia as a convict under the Whiteboy Acts. Wicks grew up in Canberra and country New South Wales where her father worked as a schoolteacher. Deborah Mary O'Neill (born 4 June 1961) is an Australian politician who has served as a Australian Senate, Senator for New South Wales since 2013. Before entering politics O'Neill was a school teacher and university academic. She is a member of the Australian Labor Party and formerly represented the seat of Division of Robertson, Robertson as a member of the Australian House of Representatives, House of Representatives from 2010 to 2013. Belinda Neal
Belinda Jane Neal (born 10 January 1963) is a former Australian federal politician. She was a Member of the House of Representatives representing the electorate of Robertson between 2007 and 2010; and representing the state of New South Wales in the Senate from 1994 to 1998, both on behalf of the Australian Labor Party. Early life Neal was born in Brisbane on 10 January 1963. She graduated Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, where she was president of the Students' Representative Council. Jim Lloyd
James Eric Lloyd (born 17 July 1954) is an Australian former politician who served with the Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives from the March 1996 election until the November 2007 election, representing the Division of Robertson in New South Wales. Biography Lloyd was born in Sydney and educated at Homebush Boys High School and worked in a variety of occupations, including milkman, ferry and cruise boat crew member, manager of a marina and service station proprietor before entering politics. Lloyd was the Liberal Party candidate for the safe Labor seat of Peats at the 1984 New South Wales state election, gathering 33.40% of the vote. Frank Walker (Australian Politician)
Francis John Walker, QC (7 July 1942 – 12 June 2012) was an Australian politician and judge. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Georges River between 1970 and 1988 and subsequently a member of the Australian House of Representatives representing Robertson between 1990 and 1996, both for the Australian Labor Party. During his parliamentary careers, Walker held a range of ministerial responsibilities. He was the first New South Wales Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and was responsible for some of the first legislation that recognized the obligation to financially compensate indigenous Australians for the loss of their land. He has been given credit for achieving one of the first big breakthroughs in the protection of Australia's natural environment, the saving of the Terania Creek rainforest.
