Electoral District Of Wolston
Wolston was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1972 to 1992. First created for the 1972 state election, the district was based in the eastern part of Ipswich, essentially replacing the abolished district of Ipswich East. Wolston was a safe seat for the Labor Party. Wolston was abolished by the 1991 redistribution; the first redistribution undertaken to comply with the one vote one value reforms. Its territory was largely divided between the new electorates of Bundamba and Inala with parts also added to the new district of Mount Ommaney. Legislative Assembly Of Queensland
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs). There is approximately the same population in each electorate; however, that has not always been the case (in particular, a malapportionment system - not, strictly speaking, a gerrymander - dubbed the ''Bjelkemander'' was in effect during the 1970s and 1980s). Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 27 May 1972 to elect the 82 members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. It has functioned in the state since the 1880s. History Trade unionists in Queensland had begun attempting to secure parliamentary representation as early as the mid-1880s. William McNaughton Galloway, the president of the Seamen's Union, mounted an unsuccessful campaign as an independent in an 1886 by-election. A Workers' Political Reform Association was founded to nominate candidates for the 1888 election, at which the Brisbane Trades and Labor Council endorsed six candidates. In Australia, one vote, one value is a democratic principle, applied in electoral laws governing redistributions of electoral divisions of the House of Representatives. The principle calls for all electoral divisions to have the same number of enrolled voters (not residents or population), within a specified percentage of variance. The electoral laws of the Commonwealth for the House of Representatives and all states follow the principle with some exceptions. The principle does not apply to the Senate, as each state is entitled under the constitution to the same number of senators irrespective of the population of the state. Electoral District Of Bundamba
Bundamba is a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral division in the state of Queensland, Australia. The electorate encompasses suburbs in the east and south-east of the City of Ipswich local government area. Major locations include Bundamba, Blackstone, Goodna, Redbank Plains, Augustine Heights and Springfield. Bundamba was also the name of a previous electorate that existed between 1873 and 1912. The seat has been held by the Labor Party since it was recreated in 1992, and for much of that time has been a reasonably safe Labor seat. In the 2006 state election, Labor's Jo-Ann Miller won the seat with 68.5% of the vote. The electoral district of Inala is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in south-west Brisbane. It includes the suburbs of Inala, Ellen Grove, Forest Lake, Doolandella, Durack, Wacol, Richlands and parts of Oxley. It borders the electoral districts of Mount Ommaney, Miller, Algester, Jordan, Bundamba and Moggill. The Inala electoral district was created in the 1990 redistribution as part of the one vote one value reforms under Wayne Goss, and was contested for the first time at the 1992 election. Mount Ommaney is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created with the 1992 redistribution. It covers the western suburbs of Brisbane south of the Brisbane River. The Western Arterial Road runs through the middle of the seat from north to south. The suburb is split by the industrial suburb of Seventeen Mile Rocks between the older suburbs around Corinda in the east and the more recent areas around Mount Ommaney.
