Electoral District Of Wimmera
The electoral district of Wimmera was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was defined initially as ''"Bounded on the West by the Boundary Line of Victoria and South Australia; on the North by the River Murray; on the East by a Line to Lake Bael Bael, thence by the River Avoca to its Source; and on the South by the Boundaries of the Counties of Follett, Dundas and Ripon''". In the Electoral Act of 1858 (which took effect in 1859), Wimmera was reduced in size and to one member; the Electoral district of Crowlands was created which incorporated part of the previous Wimmera district. In the Electoral Act of 1877 established the seat as a two-member constituency, reabsorbing Crowlands. In the redistribution of 1889, Wimmera was abolished and new districts including Horsham, Lowan and Donald & Swan Hill were created. Electoral districts of Victoria are the electoral districts, commonly referred to as "seats" or "electorates", into which the Australian State of Victoria is divided for the purpose of electing members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, one of the two houses of the Parliament of the State. The State is divided into 88 single-member districts. The Legislative Assembly has had 88 electorates since the 1985 election, increased from 81 previously. Hugh Delahunty
Hugh Francis Delahunty (born 28 June 1949) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2014, representing the electorates of Wimmera (1999–2002) and Lowan (2002–2014). He served as Minister for Sport and Recreation and Minister for Veterans Affairs in the Baillieu and Napthine Coalition governments from 2010 to 2014. Bill McGrath
William Desmond McGrath (3 December 1936 – 22 August 2018) was an Australian politician who was a member of National Party. He was also a professional Australian rules footballer. McGrath played in the Victorian Football League with South Melbourne, under captain-coach Ron Clegg. He played 15 out of a possible 18 games in the 1959 home and away season. He also kicked 18 goals, including five in a win over Richmond at Punt Road, with team-mate Bob Skilton matching his tally. At the end of the year he returned to his family farm in Minyip but would continue to play and later coach in the Wimmera Football League. In the 1979 state election, McGrath became the member for Lowan in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, and then the member for Wimmera in 1992, following a redistribution. Richard Baker (Victorian Politician)
Richard Baker (1830 – 10 March 1915) was an Australian politician. Born in the village of Newbridge, in the parish of Shalfleet on the Isle of Wight to Peter Baker and Ruth Tucker, he attended a grammar school at Shalfleet and arrived in Melbourne in 1854, settling as a miner in Ballarat. He married Caroline Saunders, with whom he had seven children. Walter Madden
Walter Madden (16 December 1848 – 3 August 1925) was an Australian politician, member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1880 to 1894. Early life Madden was the fourth son of John Madden, a solicitor, and Margaret, ''née'' Macoboy; and younger brother of John Madden, was born in Cork, Ireland in 1848, and went to Victoria (Australia) in 1857. He began his career as a Midshipman on the Victorian man of war ''HMVS Victoria'', and studied marine surveying.
