The United pastoral districts of Moreton, Wide Bay, Burnett and Maranoa, and from 1857 Moreton, Wide Bay, Burnett, Maranoa, Leichhardt and Port Curtis, was an New South Wales Legislative Assembly electoral districts, electoral district of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales created in 1856 and consisted of the pastoral districts around the early settlements of Moreton Bay; Wide Bay, near Maryborough, Queensland, Maryborough; the Burnett River, near Bundaberg, Queensland, Bundaberg; and the Maranoa, Queensland, Maranoa region of South-western Queensland. In September 1856 the pastoral districts around the Leichhardt River in the Gulf of Carpentaria region and Port Curtis Pastoral District, Port Curtis (Gladstone, Queensland, Gladstone) were added to the electorate. William Tooth
William Butler Tooth was an English born Australian politician and pastoralist, who from 1858–1859 represented the Electoral district of United Pastoral Districts of Moreton, Wide Bay, Burnett, Maranoa, Leichhardt and Port Curtis in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. He was the founder of the Union Club and was a member of the committees of the Sydney Club, the Society for Suppression of Cattle Stealing and the Agricultural Society of New South Wales. Tooth married Lucy Ann Harris (died 1916) in Sydney in 1850 and together had nine children. He died in Toowoomba in 1876 and was buried in Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery is a heritage-listed cemetery at the corner of South Street and Anzac Avenue, Harristown, Queensland, Australia. Patrick Leslie (25 September 1815 – 12 August 1881) was a Scottish settler in Australia. Leslie and his two brothers (Walter and George) were the first to settle on the Darling Downs, and he was the first person to buy land in Warwick. Early life Partick Leslie was born in Warthill, also known as Meikle Wartle in Aberdeenshire on 25 September 1815. He was the second son of William and Jane Leslie. His father was the 8th Laird of Folla and 9th Laird of Warthill, JP, DL, 27th in line of descent from the 1st Baron of Balquhain. The Leslies were members of the Church of Scotland. In December 1834, Leslie left London as a passenger aboard the convict transport ''Emma Eugenia'', arriving in Sydney in May 1835. Gordon Sandeman
Gordon Sandeman (1810 – 14 March 1897) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, Queensland Legislative Assembly, and the Queensland Legislative Council. Early life Sandeman was born in Edinburgh and was the son of a merchant. He emigrated to the Moreton Bay district in 1838 and established a mercantile business. He also acquired significant pastoral interests in the Wide Bay and Burnett districts. After suffering some financial difficulties in the 1880s Sandeman returned to the United Kingdom where he died aged 87. The Separation of Queensland was an event in 1859 in which the land that forms the present-day State of Queensland in Australia was excised from the Colony of New South Wales and created as a separate Colony of Queensland.
