The Electoral district of Mindarie was a Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly Electoral districts of Western Australia, electorate in the states and territories of Australia, state of Western Australia. The district was named for the outer northern Perth suburb of Mindarie, Western Australia, Mindarie, which falls within its borders. History Mindarie was created at the 2003 redistribution out of parts of Electoral district of Wanneroo, Wanneroo and Electoral district of Joondalup, Joondalup, accounting for significant population growth in the City of Wanneroo which had pulled the Wanneroo district northwards and eastwards in order to keep all seats at a roughly equal population. Mindarie, Western Australia
Mindarie is an outer coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is located 36 kilometres (22 mi) north of Perth's central business district, and forms part of the City of Wanneroo local government area. After being briefly used for its limestone deposits in the early 20th century, the suburb was formally established in 1988 with the construction of the Mindarie Marina and hotel, one of the largest man-made marina resorts in the state. Several shops, restaurants and schools are now dispersed throughout the rest of the area, which is primarily residential in character. A number of large bushland reserves and parks preserve Mindarie's previously natural state, such as its large coastal dunes. Burns Beach Road
Burns Beach Road is an arterial east-west road in Perth, Western Australia, linking the suburbs of Burns Beach and Iluka to the Mitchell Freeway and Joondalup. It forms the entirety of State Route 87 and was the northern terminus of Mitchell Freeway and State Route 2 from 2008 to 2017, when the freeway was extended to Hester Avenue. The road begins at a large roundabout with Joondalup Drive and used to end at the old coastal village of Burns Beach. The road has been realigned where the road into the village is now named Ocean Parade and Burns Beach Road continues along the coast from Ocean Parade to Shenton Avenue in Iluka. Alkimos is a coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located north-northwest of Perth's central business district. It is part of the City of Wanneroo local government area. Nowergup is a rural locality about north of Perth, Western Australia. It is in the local government area of the City of Wanneroo. History The suburb of Nowergup (sometimes spelled Nowgerup in earlier documents) takes its name from Lake Nowergup. The lake name was first recorded by Surveyor General John Septimus Roe in 1841, and is a Noongar word which possibly means "place of sweet water". It was approved as a suburb name in 1982. Neerabup is a rural locality in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, within the local government area of the City of Wanneroo. History Prior to European settlement, the Noongar people had lived in the area for more than 40,000 years, taking advantage of the abundant food and water around the chain of wetlands on the coastal plain. In winter, they moved eastwards away from coastal weather, to return in summer as inland supplies dried up. The Mooro people (led by elder Yellagonga during the early years of European settlement) stretched from the Moore River near Guilderton to what is now the Perth central business district, and used to move between Lakes Joondalup, Neerabup and Yanchep. It is a predominantly residential suburb, containing two RAAF retirement villages. History Name The name "Hester" was originally approved for the suburb by the Shire of Wanneroo in 1980, after Thomas Hester, one of the first land owners in the vicinity.
