City Of Knox
The City of Knox is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of and in 2020, Knox had a population of 165,147. This municipality is one of only a handful that survived the widespread municipal amalgamations that occurred in Victoria in the early 1990s. History The City of Knox was named after Sir George Hodges Knox (1885–1960), a former soldier and speaker of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The City of Knox Crest incorporates his family's motto 'Move and Prosper'. The area which is now Knox was once part of the Scoresby Riding of the Shire of Berwick. On 23 May 1889, the riding was severed to create the Shire of Fern Tree Gully, which extended as far east as Olinda and Monbulk in the Dandenong Ranges. Steven Marshall Crabb (born 15 January 1943) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Arbroath in Scotland, the son of Steven Crabb, an RAF warrant officer, and Gertrude. He attended local state schools and joined the Labour Party, of which he was an office-bearer. He emigrated to Australia in June 1966, joining the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society as joint assistant actuary in 1972. Hurtle Lupton
Hurtle Reginald Lupton (born 27 October 1939) is a former Australian politician. He was the Liberal member for Knox in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1992 to 2002. Lupton was born in Melbourne to John Hurtle Charles Lupton and Wilhelmina Stephens. He was educated at Upwey High School from 1951 to 1954, leaving school early. On 15 September 1962 he married Dawn Yvonne Taylor, with whom he had three children. He completed his high school education at Box Hill High School 1968–69, and studied at Swinburne Technical College for a Certificate of Business Studies 1971–73. He worked as a computer programmer from 1968 until 1980. In 1973 he was elected to Knox City Council, serving three terms (1979–80, 1981–82, 1989–90) as mayor. In 1991 he joined the Liberal Party.
