Eleanor Sanderson
Eleanor Ruth Sanderson (née Grourk; born 1977) is an English Anglican bishop who has served as Bishop of Hull, a suffragan bishop in the Church of England Diocese of York, since 2022. She previously served as an associate bishop in the Diocese of Wellington within the Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. She became the first woman bishop in the Wellington diocese when she was consecrated on 2 June 2017. At the time, she was the fourth woman to be elevated to the position of bishop in the New Zealand Anglican church. Prior to becoming a bishop, she served as an Anglican priest for eleven years, also in the Wellington diocese. Early life and education Eleanor Sanderson was born in England, and grew up in Derbyshire. She is the daughter of Terry Grourk. Eastbourne, New Zealand
Eastbourne is a suburb of Lower Hutt, a part of Wellington, New Zealand. Lying beside the sea, it is a popular local tourist destination via car from Petone or from ferry crossings from central Wellington. An outer suburb, it lies on the eastern shore of Wellington Harbour, five kilometres south of the main Lower Hutt urban area and directly across the harbour from the Miramar Peninsula in Wellington city. The ordination of women in the Anglican Communion has been increasingly common in certain provinces since the 1970s. Several provinces, however, and certain dioceses within otherwise ordaining provinces, continue to ordain only men. Disputes over the ordination of women have contributed to the establishment and growth of progressive tendencies, such as the Anglican realignment and Continuing Anglican movements. Some provinces within the Anglican Communion ordain women to the three traditional holy orders of bishop, priest, and deacon. Other provinces ordain women as deacons and priests but not as bishops; others are still as deacons only. Within provinces that permit the ordination of women, approval of enabling legislation is largely a diocesan responsibility. Waitohiariki Quayle (born 1950, Gladstone, New-Zealand) is a Māori Anglican bishop. She was ordained as Bishop of Upoko o Te Ika in the Te Pīhopatanga o Aotearoa at Rathkeale College on Thursday, September 12, 2019, where she also received a Haka greeting from her community. This makes her the first female Māori bishop in the Anglican Church, and the first woman born in New Zealand to become a bishop in the Anglican Communion. Hull Minster is the Anglican minster and the parish church of Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The church was called Holy Trinity Church until 13 May 2017 when it became Hull Minster. History It is the largest parish church in England by floor area. Justin Charles Hopkins Duckworth (born 1968) is the current Anglican Bishop of Wellington in New Zealand. Early life and education Justin Duckworth was raised in Stokes Valley, New Zealand. His parents, Claire and Les Duckworth, separated when he was ten years old. His mother was an art teacher.
