	Dan Eldon Daniel Robert Eldon (18 September 1970 – 12 July 1993) was a British-Kenyan photojournalist, artist and activist, killed in Somalia while working as a Reuters photojournalist. His journals were published posthumously in four volumes by Chronicle Books, including ''The Journey Is the Destination'', ''The Art of Life'', and ''Safari as a Way of Life''. Early life Eldon was born in London on 18 September 1970, the son of Kathy and Mike Eldon. His father was an Israel-born British citizen of Jewish descent, and his mother was an American Protestant of German and Irish descent. He had one younger sister. When Eldon was seven years old, his family moved to Nairobi, Kenya. His parents later divorced. In Kenya, Eldon initially attended a British school, before transferring to the International School of Kenya. He retired in May 2005, after spending 37 years with HSBC Group, but remains actively engaged in banking and business life. 	Stan Eldon Stanley Edward Eldon (born 1 May 1936 in Windsor, Berkshire) is a retired British cross country runner. Eldon is notable for winning the International Cross Country Championships held in Cardiff in 1958. He was awarded his MBE for his work in setting up the Reading half- marathon. Eldon was inspired to become a runner after viewing a film of the 1948 Olympics and joined Eton Athletics Club. In 1956 he ran a junior World Best of 14 minutes 19 seconds over 3 miles. As an adult he came to note as an aggressive front runner. In 1958 he won the International Cross Country Championships in a time of 46 minutes 29 seconds beating Alain Mimoun and Frank Sando into second and third respectively.
