Eldar Quliyev
Eldar Quliyev (January 18, 1941 – April 16, 2021) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani film director, screenwriter, and actor. Biography Eldar was the son of composer and pianist Tofig Guliyev. He studied at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography from 1960 to 1966, where he was taught by Sergei Gerasimov himself. He then began working for the film studio Azerbaijanfilm in 1967, where he directed fictional films and documentaries. He also became a professor of cinematography at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. That year, he directed his first short film, titled '. Baku
Baku (, ; az, Bakı ) is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region. Baku is located below sea level, which makes it the lowest lying national capital in the world and also the largest city in the world located below sea level. People's Artist of the USSR ( rus, Народный артист СССР, Narodny artist SSSR), also sometimes translated as National Artist of the USSR, was an honorary title granted to artists of the Soviet Union. Nomenclature and significance The term is confusingly used to translate two Russian language titles: Народный артист СССР (fem. Народная артистка СССР), awarded in performing arts and Народный художник СССР, granted in some visual arts. Each Soviet Republic, as well as the Autonomous Republics (ASSRs), had a similar award held previously by virtually every receiver of the higher title of People's Artist of the USSR.
