Elbridge Township is a civil township of Oceana County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,233 at the 2000 census. History Elbridge Township was part of the Ottawa Indian Reservation created by treaty in 1855. The township was organized in 1858. Elbridge is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. According to the 2010 census, the population of the town was approximately 5,922. The town is named after Elbridge Gerry, the fifth Vice President of the United States, and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The Town of Elbridge is west of Syracuse, on the western border of the county. The town contains a village which is also named Elbridge. History Elbridge was part of Military Township No. 5 (Camillus) created following the American Revolution and given to veterans in lieu of payment for service during the War for Independence. This tract comprised most of present-day Camillus and all of Van Buren and Marcellus in what is now the County of Onondaga in Central New York's Finger Lakes Region. Elbridge is a village. Located in the western part of the town of Elbridge in western Onondaga County, New York, United States, about west of Syracuse. It is part of the Syracuse Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the village's total population was 1,058. History The village is in the former Central New York Military Tract. The first settler was Josiah Buck, a government surveyor sent there in 1791 to map the area. He was so impressed that he returned with his family in 1793. Elbridge became an incorporated village in 1848. With the growth of nearby Syracuse, Elbridge lost manufacturing facilities and population before the beginning of the 20th century.
