Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Sergio Jiménez
Sergio Jiménez (December 17, 1937 – January 3, 2007), born in Mexico City, was a Mexican actor who became famous after portraying the character of ''El Gato'' in the film ''Los caifanes''. His last work was directing the telenovela ''La fea más bella''. Sergio also worked in his "actor's studio" that he operated with actress Adriana Barraza (nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress for Babel). He is known in the Mexican community as "El Profe" (the teacher). Socorro Avelar (1925 in Cuernavaca, Mexico – 11 February 2003) was a Mexican actress. Life Avelar studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Armando Silvestre Carrascosa (born January 28, 1926) is a Mexican-American actor. Life and career Silvestre was born on January 28, 1926 in San Diego, California, but he is originally from Tijuana, Mexico. He dropped out of college in order to pursue a career in bullfighting, but turned to acting after being badly gored by a bull. In 1960, Silvestre starred in '' Las rosas del milagro'', a historical drama set during the time of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. María del Pilar Pellicer López de Llergo (12 February 1938 – 16 May 2020) was a Mexican actress. At the 17th Ariel Awards, she won the Ariel Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film ''La Choca'' (1974). Biography Pilar was daughter of lawyer César Pellicer Sánchez and wife María del Pilar López de Llergo, both from Tabasco. At age 18, Pilar studied at the Academy of Contemporary Dance, and was trained by Seki Sano. Pilar later abandoned dance to study philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. María Sonia Furió Flores (30 July 1937 – 1 December 1996) was a Spanish-born Mexican actress. Early life Furió was born in Alicante, the daughter of Nicolás Furió Cabanés and María Flores Guillén. She was very young when her family emigrated to Mexico because of the Spanish Civil War. She became a naturalized Mexican citizen on 2 May 1952 at age 14.
