El Vampiro Negro
''The Black Vampire'' ( es, El vampiro negro) is a 1953 Argentine horror film directed by Román Viñoly Barreto, starring Olga Zubarry and Roberto Escalada. It is inspired by Fritz Lang's '' M''. Plot Amalia, a glamorous nightclub singer, witnesses, through a small barred window in her basement dressing room, the figure of a man dumping a small body into a storm drain in the alley behind the nightclub. The man, nicknamed the vampire serial killer by police, has been murdering little girls and disposing of their bodies without leaving a trace of his own identity. Government Prosecutor Dr. Bernard questions Amalia and she falsely denies having seen anything; if her occupation as a nightclub singer (a less-than-respectable job) is exposed, she could be deprived custody of her daughter. Román Viñoly Barreto
Román Viñoly Barreto (8 August 1914 – 20 August 1970) was a Uruguayan-Argentine film director. Biography Viñoly Barreto directed 28 feature films between 1947 and 1966 including ''The Black Vampire'', '' Paper Boats'', the 1954 film '' El Abuelo'' which starred Enrique Muino and Mecha Ortiz and Esta Es Mi Vida starring Miguel de Molina. His 1958 film ''Los dioses ajenos'' was entered into the 8th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1965 film ''La pérgola de las flores'' was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. Two years later, he was a member of the jury of the 5th Moscow International Film Festival. He was also a notable screenwriter, theater and opera director. Personal life The director was the father of architect Rafael Viñoly, artist Daniel Viñoly, and Dr. Ana Maria de la Merced Viñoly. ''Lucía'' is a 1968 Cuban black-and-white drama film directed by Humberto Solás, and written by Solás, Julio García Espinosa and Nelson Rodríguez. It was the winner of the Golden Prize and the Prix FIPRESCI at the 6th Moscow International Film Festival in 1969. The film is a period piece, told in three stories in different moments of Cuban history (the Cuban war of independence, the 1930s during the regime of Gerardo Machado and the 1960s), all as seen through the eyes of a different woman, each named Lucía.
