Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Artur Silva de Pomoceno (born 1 May 1997) is a Brazilian badminton player. Career Pomoceno started playing badminton in 2008 for the Rio de Janeiro social project. In 2013, he won the South America Badminton Championships, and in 2014 he was a runner-up. In 2014, he also won the bronze medal at the Pan Am Junior Badminton Championships in the boys' singles event, and in 2015 he won the silver medal. In 2016, he won the silver medal at the Pan Am Badminton Championships in the men's singles event. Francesca Corbett (born June 3, 2005) is an American badminton player from Foster City, California. Career Corbett has been competing in badminton since she was six. She is ranked as USA U19 number 5 in girls' singles and number 1 in girls' doubles with her partner Allison Lee. She won the girls' singles and doubles gold medals at the U11 Pan Am Junior Championships in 2015, U13 Pan Am Junior Championships in 2017, and U15 Pan Am Junior Championships in 2019. In late 2019, she qualified to represent the USA in February 2020 for the Pan Am Male & Female Cup in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, by winning her first adult national title in the women's doubles. Kevin Haroldo Cordón Buezo (born November 28, 1986) is a Guatemalan badminton player. He won two men's singles title at the Pan American Games, four title at the Pan Am Championships (3 in singles and 1 in doubles), and six title at the Central American and Caribbean Games (4 in singles and 2 in doubles). Kevin Jesse Lee Jr. (born September 4, 1992) is an American professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Lightweight and Super Lightweight divisions of Eagle Fighting Championship (EFC).
