''El Jeremías'' is a 2015 Mexican comedy film, directed by Anwar Safa. The film stars Martín Castro as Jeremías, a bright child, who after learning he's a genius, struggles to succeed because of his family's poverty and ignorance. The film premiered at the 30th Guadalajara International Film Festival. The film also received nine nominations at the 58th Ariel Awards including Best Director for Safa and Best Original Screenplay for Ana Sofía Clerici. The film was named on the shortlist for Mexico's entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards. The film was released in the United States on 21 October 2016. Observational Comedy
Observational comedy is a form of humor based on the commonplace aspects of everyday life. It is one of the main types of humor in stand-up comedy. In an observational comedy act, the comedian makes an observation about something which is common enough to be familiar to their audience, but not commonly discussed. The Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actress (Spanish: Premio Ariel a Mejor Coactuación Femenina) is an award presented by the Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (AMACC) in Mexico. It is given in honor of an actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a supporting role while working within the Mexican film industry. In 1947, the 1st and 2nd Ariel Awards were held, with Lilia Michel winning in both ceremonies for the films ''Un Beso en la Noche'' and '' Vértigo'', respectively. With the exception of the years 1959 to 1971, when the Ariel Awards were suspended, the award has been given annually.
