El Ingenio (Panama Metro)
El Ingenio is a Panama Metro station on Line 1. It was originally scheduled to open in August 2014, but opened on 8 May 2015. The station cost US$30 million and was officially opened by ministers Roberto Roy and Álvaro Alemán Álvaro (, , ) is a Spanish, Galician and Portuguese male given name and surname (see Spanish naming customs) of Visigothic origin. Some claim it may be related to the Old Norse name Alfarr, formed of the elements ''alf'' "elf" and ''arr'' "warrio .... It was the thirteenth station opened on the network and is the final underground station before the elevated 12 de Octubre station. It serves the neighbourhood of El Ingenio, the major thoroughfare of Avenida Transístmica and also provides access to many colleges located nearby. Panama Metro
The Panama Metro ( es, Metro de Panamá) is a rapid transit system in Panama City, Panama. It links the south and the east of the metropolitan area to the city center. The metro was inaugurated on April 5, 2014, and it entered revenue service two weeks later. The Metro was built to relieve the traffic congestion between the city and San Miguelito District and to offer commuters a viable alternative to road transport, as the Metrobus transport system was suffering multiple issues. The Metro operates seven days a week and 365 days a year. Its hours are Monday-Friday 05:00–23:00, Saturday 05:00–22:00, and Sundays and holidays 07:00–22:00. The Panama Metro is part of a major "National Master Plan" to improve transportation in Panama City and the west side of the country, which includes the construction of three more metro lines and a light rail line. Roberto Roy
Roberto Roy is a Panamanian civil and mechanical engineer and politician, who served as the Minister of Canal Affairs of Panama from 2012-____(?) and as Director General of Panama Metro from January 2015-____ (?). Roy graduated in mechanical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, gaining a Master's degree in Industrial Administration at the same Institute. He also graduated in civil engineering at Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua Roy launched his own construction company, R-M Ingeneria, in 1975. 12 de Octubre is a Panama Metro station on Line 1. Construction of the station began on 17 March 2012 and it was one of the first 11 stations when the metro began operations on 6 April 2014. It is the first of six elevated stations when travelling towards the San Isidro terminus.
