''El filibusterismo'' is a 1962 Cinema of the Philippines, Philippine Historical drama, period drama film co-written and directed by Gerardo de León. Based on the El filibusterismo, 1891 novel of the same name by José Rizal, it is a sequel to the 1961 film ''Noli Me Tángere (1961 film), Noli Me Tángere'', and stars Pancho Magalona, Charito Solis, Teody Belarmino, Edita Vital, Ben Perez, Carlos Padilla Jr., Lourdes Medel, Robert Arevalo, and Oscar Keesee. The film was released on March 30, 1962. Gerardo De León
Gerardo de León, National Artist of the Philippines, ONA (September 12, 1913 – July 25, 1981), was a Philippines, Filipino film director and actor. Biography De León, who was born Gerardo Ilagan, was a member of the Ilagan clan of Philippine motion pictures, which includes Robert Arevalo, Conrado Conde, Angel Esmeralda, Eddie Ilagan, musical scorer Tito Arévalo, and his daughter Liberty Ilagan. De León was a medical doctor by profession, but his ultimate love for film won him over. He made his acting debut in the 1934 film ''Ang Dangal''. He acted in eight other films before becoming a director. The first film he directed was ''Bahay-Kubo'' (1939), starring Fely Vallejo, an actress whom he later married. FAMAS Award For Best Director
The FAMAS Award for Best Director is one of the major FAMAS Awards, given to the film director who has shown great artistic instincts, choices and excellence in assembling his or her motion picture. The FAMAS Best Director is chosen from the Filipino films shown in the previous calendar year that were screened by the FAMAS. The FAMAS (''Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne'', "Assault Rifle from the Saint-Étienne Weapon Factory") is a bullpup assault rifle designed and manufactured in France by MAS in 1978, a year after the Austrian Steyr AUG. Monang Carvajal (born Patrocinio Tagaroma Carvajal; June 30, 1898 – 22 June 1980) was a Filipina film actress best known for her roles in thriller and horror movies. She was dubbed the "Queen of Horror Pictures." Biography Carvajal was born in Manila on June 30, 1898, the daughter of Spanish Zarzuela actors Don Jose Carvajal and Patrocinio Tagaroma de Carvajal.
