El Carabobeño
''El Carabobeño'' has been one of the most popular newspapers in the Central Region of Venezuela. The offices of the newspaper are located in Naguanagua, north of the city of Valencia in the state of Carabobo. Its main competitor in the area is ''Notitarde''. In 2016 it discontinued its print edition citing problems sourcing newsprint. It has continued online. History Foundation The newspaper was founded by Eladio Alemán Sucre on 1 September 1933 under the dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gómez. Eladio Alemán Sucre was forced into exile under the dictatorship, with the newspaper working under the area's best intellectuals, until Vicente Gómez's death in 1935. In 1948, the newspaper was headquartered in the Ayacucho building and by 1955, the newspaper had begun printing in a more "standard" size after their printing press was updated. Censorship In Venezuela
Censorship in Venezuela refers to all actions which can be considered as suppression in speech in the country. Reporters Without Borders ranked Venezuela 137th out of 180 countries in its ''World Press Freedom Index 2015'' and classified Venezuela's freedom of information in the "difficult situation" level. The Constitution of Venezuela says that freedom of expression and press freedom are protected. Article 57 states that "Everyone has the right to freely express his or her thoughts, ideas or opinions orally, in writing or by any other form of expression, and to use for such purpose any means of communication and diffusion, and no censorship shall be established." Braulio Salazar (1917–2008) was a Venezuelan painter. Biography Salazar was born on 23 December 1917 in Valencia. His first exhibition took place in 1935. As he suffered from hemotitis, doctors banned him from using chemical products. This lead him to make up his own colours with earth, vegetables and other natural substances as his other compatriot, Armando Reverón, used to do. Salazar was arts teacher at the Pedro Gual high school, at the Simón Rodríguez schoon and at the School of Plastic Arts Arturo Michelena.
