El Camino Real Charter High School
El Camino Real Charter High School (also known locally as "ECR" or "Elco") is an independent charter secondary school located in the Woodland Hills district of the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. The school, founded in 1969, was designed to emulate a small college campus, with a large central "quad" and an open campus policy. ECR serves portions of Woodland Hills and West Hills and also maintains a sizable "traveling" student population from other areas of the district. ECR's Academic Performance Index was 832 out of 1,000 in 2012. On March 31, 2009, El Camino Real High School became a California Distinguished School. In December 2010, the teachers and staff at the school voted for it to become a charter school. This change took effect in the fall of 2011. Kurt Birkins
Kurt Daniel Birkins (born August 11, 1980) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) player who pitched for the Baltimore Orioles (2006-2007) and Tampa Bay Rays (2008). High school/college Birkins attended El Camino Real high school in Woodland Hills, California. He played baseball for the Conquistadors and helped them win back-to-back LA City Championships in 1997 and 1998. He was named MVP of the 1998 championship game after throwing a 10 inning complete game, striking out 12, and hitting the go ahead 2-run double. Birkins pitched for the UCLA Bruins in 1999 and led the staff in ERA, but decided to step away after the season due to burn out. Jay Bentley
Jay Dee Bentley (born June 6, 1964) is the bassist and co-founding member of the punk rock group Bad Religion. He has played with the band through its whole existence with a small break between 1983 and 1985. Along with vocalist Greg Graffin, Bentley has appeared on nearly all of Bad Religion's studio albums, with the sole exception being their second album '' Into the Unknown'' (1983). Career Jay Bentley grew up in Santa Clarita, California, and later moved to Woodland Hills.
