Ekstraklasa (ice Hockey)
The Polish ice hockey Ekstraklasa ( pl, Ekstraliga polska w hokeju na lodzie) was the premier ice hockey league in Poland. Previously, it was known as the I Liga or Ekstraklasa from 1926–1999, and the Polska Liga Hokejowa from 1999–2013. In 2013, it was reorganized as a limited liability company and renamed the Polska Hokej Liga. History The championship started in 1925-26. At first it was a non-league system composed of regional tournaments. The tournaments had two stages. The best teams qualified to the final tournament, of which the winner was declared champion. In 1938, the Polish Ice Hockey Federation decided to reorganise the championship, by creating a league system. The 1955–56 Polska Liga Hokejowa season was the 21st season of the Polska Liga Hokejowa, the top level of ice hockey in Poland. Ice Hockey At The 1932 Winter Olympics
The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States, was the fourth Olympic Championship, also serving as the sixth World Championships. Canada, represented by the Winnipeg Hockey Club, won its fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal and sixth consecutive World Championship. The United States took the silver medal and Germany claimed one of its three all-time hockey medals by taking the bronze (West Germany would win a bronze medal in 1976, and Germany's men's team would win silver in 2018). Overall, four teams participated, with only two European associations (Germany and Poland) making the trip due to the worldwide Great Depression. Górnik Katowice
GKS Katowice is a professional ice hockey team in Katowice, Poland. The team was founded in 1964. GKS Katowice won six Polska Liga Hokejowa titles between 1958 and 1970. From 2017 to 2019 the name of the club was changed to Tauron KH GKS Katowice, due to sponsorship by Tauron Group. The club finished the regular season 2021-2022 in 1st place and won the playoffs by defeating Zagłębie Sosnowiec, GKS Tychy and Unia Oświęcim. Polonia Bydgoszcz is a Polish sports club based in Bydgoszcz most known for its speedway team ŻKS Polonia Bydgoszcz which currently races in the 1. Liga. Dąb Katowice
Dąb Katowice was a Polish sports club from Upper Silesian capital of Katowice. Founded in 1911 as SV Eiche (Sport Verein Eiche) (Katowice was then located in German Empire, its German name was Kattowitz), the club existed until September 9, 1968, when a merger with GKS Katowice took place and a new organization took over the name GKS. Dąb had numerous sports sections, including swimming (multiple champions of Poland in the years 1935–1939), boxing, gymnastics, ice-hockey (champion of Poland 1939), wrestling and soccer. Dąb's soccer team played two seasons in Polish League – in 1936 it was 8th, but in 1937 it was expelled from the League in mid-season, due to an attempt to bribe rivals.
