Eivissa Pel Canvi
Eivissa pel Canvi ( en, Ibiza for Change, ExC) was a political platform, and later a political party, formed in the island of Ibiza in 2006, to politically support the social movement against the beginning of constructions of new roads and highways the same year. The platform demanded a change in the Island Council and the Balearic governments, which were both controlled by the People's Party with a majority of seats. History In 2007 the platform transformed itself into a party, with the aim to contest the Balearic regional election and local elections in May, supported by United Left–The Greens (EU–EV), Nationalist and Ecologist Agreement (ENE), Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) and independents. All 59 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain. Political control of the islands had fluctuated in the preceding elections with the People's Party (PP) losing their majority and consequently, control to a coalition headed by the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands (PSIB–PSOE) at the 2007 election. The 2011 election saw the PP regain their overall majority. The gains came largely at the expense of United Left, Convergence for the Isles (a successor to the late Majorcan Union), Republican Left and The Greens, all of whom lost their representation in this legislature. The 2007 Balearic regional election was held on Sunday, 27 May 2007, to elect the 7th Parliament of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. All 59 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain. On 1 March 2007, the reform of the Statute of Autonomy of the Balearic Islands came into effect. Among other changes, it gave more autonomy to every Island Council, with the creation of the Island Council of Formentera—formerly the Island Council of Ibiza and Formentera covered both islands—, composed by the municipal councillors elected in the Formentera municipal election.
