Eitan Ginzburg
Eitan Ginzburg ( he, אֵיתָן גִּינְזְבּוּרְג, born 25 January 1977) is an Israeli politician. The first openly gay mayor in Israel when he became mayor of Ra'anana in 2018, he was elected to the Knesset the following year and was formerly Ministry of Communications (Israel), Minister of Communications. Biography Ginzburg was born in La Plata in Argentina. When he was eighteen months old, his family aliyah, emigrated to Israel, initially settling in kibbutz Or HaNer, before moving to Ra'anana when he was aged ten. After being educated at Ostrovsky high school, he carried out his national service in the Israel Defense Forces in the Military Police Corps (Israel), Military Police Corps, reaching the rank of major by the time of his discharge in 1999. La Plata () is the capital city of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. According to the , it has a population of 654,324 and its metropolitan area, the Greater La Plata, has 787,294 inhabitants. It is located 9 kilometers (6 miles) inland from the southern shore of the Río de la Plata estuary. La Plata was planned and developed to serve as the provincial capital after the city of Buenos Aires was federalized in 1880. It was officially founded by Governor Dardo Rocha on 19 November 1882. The history of the Jews in Argentina goes back to the early sixteenth century, following the Jewish expulsion from Spain. Sephardi Jews fleeing persecution immigrated with explorers and colonists to settle in what is now Argentina, in spite of being forbidden from travelling to the American colonies.
