''Eisenhower'' is the fourth studio album and eighth album overall by American indie rock band The Slip. It was released November 7, 2006 on Bar/None Records. It was produced by The Slip and Matthew Ellard (who has also produced for Elliott Smith and Billy Bragg and Wilco) and engineered by Drew Malamud (Stars, Metric). It represented a drastic departure for the Boston/Montreal band, going from their previous jazz-fused to sound to a more streamlined, indie rock sound. The album features contributions from Japanese singer Ua, as well as Chris Seligman from the Canadian indie band Stars. The song " Even Rats" was featured in the PlayStation 2 video game ''Guitar Hero''. Live versions of "Children of December" and "If One of Us Should Fall" were previously released on '' Live at Lupo's 6/12/04'', and another live version of the latter was on '' Alivelectric''. The Slip (band)
The Slip is an avant-rock trio from Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Providence, Rhode Island brothers Brad Barr (guitar, piano, vocals) and Andrew Barr (drums), and Marc Friedman (bass guitar). The three also play with singer-songwriter Nathan Moore (of ThaMuseMeant) and keyboardist Marco Benevento in Surprise Me Mr. Davis. Brad and Andrew Barr additionally perform with Montreal-based ensemble The Barr Brothers. History The band was formed at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, in 1989 as a student rock band that toured New England high school campuses. Andrew Barr (musician)
Andrew Barr is a drummer and producer based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada who is best known for his work with The Barr Brothers and The Slip. Barr is a founding member of the experimental rock band The Slip (1995–2007) and the critically acclaimed group The Barr Brothers along with his brother Brad Barr. Born in Providence, RI, Andrew began playing the drums at an early age, a student of jazz drummer Bob Gullotti and drummer/percussionist Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon), Andrew studied at Berklee College of Music before spending time in Mali, West Africa studying with master drummer Abdoul Doumbia. UA (singer)
(born March 11, 1972), simply known by the stage name Ua (), is a Japanese singer. She made her debut under Speedstar Records in 1995 with the single "Horizon". Biography Ua was born Kaori Shima and grew up in Suita, Osaka. After graduating from Saga University of Arts in Kyoto, she worked as a lounge singer in her hometown. There in 1994, she was scouted by producer Hiroshi Fujiwara. She took on the unusual stage name of ''Ua'' (a Swahili word that means both "flower" and "kill") and made her debut with the Fujiwara-produced "Horizon". Her fourth single " Jōnetsu" became a smash hit and Ua was recognized all over Japan. After releasing her first album, ''11'', Ua married actor Jun Murakami and gave birth to a son, Nijirō, in 1997, who is also an actor. The couple divorced in 2006. The ''Rock Band'' Network (abbreviated RBN) was a downloadable content service designed by Harmonix with the help of Microsoft to allow musical artists and record labels to make their music available as playable tracks for the ''Rock Band'' series of rhythm video games, starting with '' Rock Band 2''. It was designed to allow more music to be incorporated into ''Rock Band'' than Harmonix themselves could produce for the games, and it was seen as a way to further expand the games' music catalog into a wide variety of genres.
