Eikesdalsvatnet
Eikesdalsvatnet is a lake in Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The lake is long and narrow, roughly in length, and it is the largest lake in Møre og Romsdal county. The village of Eikesdalen is located at the southern end of the lake. Its main inflows are the river Aura, flowing northwest from the lake Aursjøen, and the river Mardøla with the famous waterfall Mardalsfossen. Aura River (Nesset)
The Aura is a river in Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It starts from Lake Aursjøen in the Romsdalsalpane mountains and flows first to the west and then north-west through the village of Eikesdalen before finally emptying into the large lake Eikesdalsvatnet. The river is long and has a catchment area of . Under natural conditions the river would have an average water flow at the mouth of , but this has been greatly reduced because of power development. In the 1950s, both the main river and most tributaries were transferred to the Aura power plant in Sunndal Municipality. River Eira
Eira is a river in Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long river flows from the lake Eikesdalsvatnet past the village of Eresfjord and into the Eresfjorden. The mountain Skjorta lies east of the river. Historically, the river was a bountiful salmon fishing area, but since it has become a regulated river for nearby hydro-electric power stations, the fish have not been as plentiful. Eikesdalen
Eikesdalen is a river valley and a small village in Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The river Aura flows through the valley. The village is located at the south end of the lake Eikesdalsvatnet at the mouth of the river Aura. Most of the valley is filled by the lake and until 1991, taking a ferry across the lake was the only access between north and south of the valley. The Mardalsfossen waterfall lies about northwest of the village. Most of the river Aura is diverted to the neighboring Sunndal Municipality and used in the power station there. The village of Eresfjord is located about north, at the other end of the lake. The lake Aursjøen lies about southeast of Eikesdalen village. Aursjøen
Aursjøen is a lake in Norway on the border between Lesja Municipality in Innlandet county and Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level and is about around. The lake was dammed up in 1953 to provide water for the Aura power station. It flooded together with the nearby lake Gautsjøen. Mardalsfossen
Mardalsfossen is a waterfall in Molde Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is sometimes referred to as one of the tallest waterfalls in Europe. The falls are on the Mardøla river which flows out of a hanging valley into the lake Eikesdalsvatnet, about northwest of the village of Eikesdalen. The waterfall was depicted in the coat of arms of the old Nesset Municipality. The total fall is according to SSB, according to World Waterfall Database (WWD). WWD reports that the SSB typically includes the head measurement for waterfalls that are situated within a hydroelectric system, resulting in a greater height estimate.
