Eika, Møre Og Romsdal
Eika is an island in the southern part of Ulstein Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is connected to the village of Eiksund on the island of Hareidlandet by the Eiksund Bridge. Eika is connected to the mainland of Norway by the Eiksund Tunnel. The island is about long and about wide. It is located about south of the large island of Hareidlandet. Møre og Romsdal (; en, Møre and Romsdal) is a county in the northernmost part of Western Norway. It borders the counties of Trøndelag, Innlandet, and Vestland. The county administration is located in the town of Molde, while Ålesund is the largest town. Eiksund
Eiksund is a village in the municipality of Ulstein, in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the southern tip of the island of Hareidlandet. The small island of Eika lies just off the shore from Eiksund. The village is located about southeast of the village of Haddal and about southeast of the town of Ulsteinvik. History Since 1838, Eiksund was administratively a part of the municipality of Sande, despite being separated from the rest of Sande by the sea (see formannskapsdistrikt law). On 1 January 1889, the Eiksund area and the island of Eika (population: 119) were transferred to Herøy. Then on 1 January 1964, Eiksund and Eika (population: 222) were transferred to Ulstein. Hareidlandet is an island in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The island is divided between Hareid Municipality and Ulstein Municipality. The island has a population of 13,030 (as of 2015). The island is mentioned by Snorri in his reports about the Battle of Hjörungavágr (now Hjørungavåg) in 986, where Haakon Sigurdsson, Haakon Jarl defeated Bue Digre and the Jomsvikings. Eiksund Bridge
The Eiksund Bridge ( no, Eiksundbrua) is a cantilever bridge in Ulstein Municipality in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The bridge is connected to the Eiksund Tunnel as part of the ''Eiksund Sambandet'' which joins several islands in the municipalities of Ulstein, Herøy, Sande, and Hareid to the mainland, without the use of ferries. Eiksund Tunnel
The Eiksund tunnel ( no, Eiksundtunnelen) is an undersea tunnel in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, which runs under the Vartdalsfjorden connecting the municipalities of Ørsta and Ulstein. The tunnel is long and reaches a depth of below sea level, and was the deepest undersea tunnel in the world until Norway's Rogaland county opened its deep Ryfast tunnel system in December 2019.
