Eid Og Voll
Eid og Voll (historically: ''Voll og Eid'') is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality encompassed most of the northwestern part of the present-day Rauma Municipality from 1840 until its dissolution in 1874. The administrative centre was the village of Voll, Rauma, Voll. Other villages in the municipality were Innfjorden and Eidsbygda. History The municipality of ''Voll og Eid'' ( en, Voll and Eid) was established on 1 January 1840 when it was split away from Grytten municipality. According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 1,211. Soon after the municipality was created, talk of dividing it began. On 10 September 1862, the Torvik, Monsås, and Hagen farms in Grytten Municipality were transferred to ''Voll og Eid'' Municipality. In 1863, the name was switched to ''Eid og Voll''. Romsdal
Romsdal is a traditional district in the Norwegian county Møre og Romsdal, located between Nordmøre and Sunnmøre. The district of Romsdal comprises Aukra, Fræna, Midsund, Molde, Nesset, Rauma, Sandøy, and Vestnes. It is named after the valley of Romsdalen, which covers part of Rauma. The largest town is Molde, which is also the seat of Møre og Romsdal County Municipality. Åndalsnes is a town located near the mouth of the river Rauma in the municipality of Rauma. The Rauma Line comes from Dombås and terminates at Åndalsnes. Naming The Old Norse form of the name was ''Raumsdalr''. Innfjorden
Innfjorden is a village in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is situated about southwest of the town of Åndalsnes and southeast of the village of Måndalen along the European Route E136 highway. The road from Åndalsnes to Innfjorden goes through the long Innfjord Tunnel, which opened in 1991 after a series of deaths caused by avalanches on the former road along the shore of Romsdal Fjord. The village has a population (2018) of 280 and a population density of . The local economy is mainly based on agriculture, while there is some industry and a few service companies relating to tourism, transportation, and road safety. Former Municipalities Of Norway
This is a list of former municipalities of Norway, i.e. municipalities that no longer exist. When the local council system was introduced in Norway in 1837-38, the country had 392 municipalities. In 1958 the number had grown to a total of 744 rural municipalities, 64 city municipalities as well as a small number of small seaports with '' ladested'' status. A committee led by Nikolai Schei, formed in 1946 to examine the situation, proposed hundreds of mergers to reduce the number of municipalities and improve the quality of local administration. Most of the mergers were carried out, albeit to significant popular protest. As of January 2006 there are 431 municipalities in Norway, and there are plans for further mergers and political pressure to do so. Rauma is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Romsdal. The administrative centre is the town of Åndalsnes. Veøy
Veøy is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. It initially consisted of all of the present-day Vestnes Municipality, as well as the southern part of Molde Municipality and the northern part of Rauma Municipality. Vestnes Municipality was only part of Veøy for a few months in 1838 before it was made into a separate municipality. In 1964, the municipality was split between Molde and Rauma municipalities. Veøy Municipality was named after the island of Veøya, the administrative centre, where the main church for the municipality ( Old Veøy Church) was located. Hen, Møre Og Romsdal
Hen is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1902 until its dissolution in 1964. Hen encompassed the valleys extending to the south and east of the Isfjorden in the northeastern part of the present-day Rauma Municipality. The administrative center of Hen was the village of Isfjorden. The area of Hen Municipality is still a parish within the municipality of Rauma.
