Eichstetten Am Kaiserstuhl
Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl is a municipality in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg in Germany near Freiburg im Breisgau. Geography Eichstetten is a village in South Baden that produces wine. It is located in the Upper Rhine Plain on the eastern edge of the Kaiserstuhl. It is found in the warmest area of Germany embedded in a valley, which spreads from the wooded Eichelspitze (the second highest hill in the Kaiserstuhl) through sunny vineyards and vegetable fields right down to the lowland. The Alte Dreisam River flows through the town on the edge of the Kaiserstuhl. As the crow flies, Eichstetten is located about 3.5 kilometres from the Bundesautobahn 5 (motorway connecting Karlsruhe and Basel). There also is a good train connection to the Kaiserstuhl Railway which calls at the village every half an hour on workdays. With this train Freiburg town center can be reached within 15 minutes. The Kaiserstuhl (, "Emperor’s Chair") is a range of hills in the state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany with a maximum height of . It is of volcanic origin and located in the southwest of the state in the counties of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. In terms of natural regions it is considered to be a part of the Upper Rhine Plain. Name The name "Kaiserstuhl" is believed to refer to King Otto III, who held court near Sasbach on 22 December 994. Alte Dreisam
Alte is a village and civil parish in the municipality of Loulé, in the Algarve region in the south of Portugal. The population in 2011 was 1,997, in an area of 94.33 km². Situated away from the coast, Alte is known as one of the most typical and unspoilt villages in the region of the Algarve. Kaiserstuhl Railway
The Kaiserstuhl Railway (german: Kaiserstuhlbahn) is a railway in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is owned and operated by the Südwestdeutsche Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft (SWEG), which in turn is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The ''Kaiserstuhlbahn'' consists of two joined sections, from Gottenheim via Riegel Ort to Endingen am Kaiserstuhl, and Riegel DB station via Endingen am Kaiserstuhl to Breisach. Together these lines circumnavigate the Kaiserstuhl mountain range on its east, north and west sides. At both Gottenheim and Breisach junctions are made with the Freiburg to Breisach Railway, which completes the circumnavigation to the south.
