Egypt National Badminton Team
The Egypt national badminton team ( ar, منتخب مصر لكرة الريشة) represents Egypt in international badminton team competitions. The Egyptian Badminton Federation controls the national team. The Egyptian women's team won the 2020 All Africa Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships in the women's team event. This qualified Egypt for the Uber Cup for the first time. The women's team made their debut in the 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup finals and was placed into Group C with South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Tahiti. The team was placed 3rd in the group after defeating Tahiti in the tie and was placed 9th on the final rankings. The men's team however failed to qualify for the Thomas Cup after losing to Algeria in the 2020 All Africa Men's and Women's Team Badminton Championships qualifiers. Thomas Cup
The Thomas Cup, sometimes called the World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championships have been conducted every two years since the 1982, amended from being conducted every three years since the first tournament held in 1948–1949. The final phase of the tournament involves 12 teams competing at venues within the host nation and is played concurrently with the final phase of the world women's team championships, the Uber Cup (first held in 1956–1957). Since 1984, the two Cups have been held jointly at the various stages of play. 2019 African Badminton Championships
The 2019 African Badminton Championships was the continental badminton championships to crown the best players and teams across Africa. The tournament was held at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Centre in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, from 22–28 April. 2023 Sudirman Cup
The 2023 Sudirman Cup (officially known as the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2023 for sponsorship reasons) was the 18th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was played in Suzhou, China, between 14 and 21 May 2023. China were the defending champions. They successfully defended their title, lifting the trophy for a record-extending 13th time. Host city selection New Delhi was awarded the hosting of the championship back in November 2018. Sudirman Cup
The Sudirman Cup is an international badminton mixed team competition contested by member countries of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every two years since the inaugural tournament in 1989. It used to be held at the same venue for the World Championships in the same year until the International Badminton Federation (now the BWF) decided to split the two tournaments starting from 2003. There are five matches in every Sudirman Cup tie which consists of men and women's singles, men and women's doubles and mixed doubles. The cup is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI).
