Egypt Women's National Basketball Team
The Egypt women's national basketball team is the nationally controlled basketball team representing Egypt at world basketball competitions for women. Results African Championship Egypt women's national basketball team won the FIBA Africa Championship for Women in 1966 and 1968 and came second in 1970 as the United Arab Republic. In the 1974 championship Egypt won third place and they were the runner up in 1977 championship. 2000 FIBA Africa Championship For Women
The 2000 FIBA Africa Championship for Women was the 15th FIBA Africa Championship for Women, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament was hosted by Tunisia from November 5 to 12, 2000. Senegal defeated Tunisia 71–63 in the final to win their first title. with both winner and runner-up securing a spot at the 2002 FIBA World Cup. El Shams SC (; ) is an Egyptian football and basketball club based in Cairo, Egypt. They are currently a member of Egyptian Third Division, the third flight of Egyptian football. 2023 Women's Afrobasket
The 2023 AfroBasket Women was the 28th edition of the tournament and held from 28 July to 5 August 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. Nigeria won their fourth consecutive and sixth overall title after defeating Senegal in the final. Format The 12 teams were split into four groups of three teams. The first-placed team qualified to the quarterfinals while the other two teams played in a playoff round. A second-placed team faced off against a third-placed team and vice versa. A knockout-system was used after the preliminary round and the losing teams of the quarterfinals were playing classification games while the winners played out the champion. The 2021 AfroBasket Women was the 25th edition of the tournament and held from 18 to 26 September 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The top two teams qualified for one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. The 2019 AfroBasket Women was held from 10 to 18 August 2019 in Dakar, Senegal. It was also the first step for the qualification for FIBA Africa for the women's basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
