''Egypt Today'' is an Egyptian English-language monthly news magazine owned by Egyptian Media Group. History and profile ''Egypt Today'' was first published in 1979. It covers Egyptian current affairs and some international news. The magazine is published by IBA media, which also publishes '' Business Today Egypt'', another monthly magazine. Both magazines are based in Cairo. In March 2005, the magazine was banned in the country due to its article on the 2005 presidential election. ''Business Today Egypt'' (also known as ''BT'') is an English business magazine which is published monthly in Cairo, Egypt by Egyptian Media Group. It is the only independent business magazine in the country. The magazine models ''Fortune'' and ''Business Week'' magazines. History and profile ''BT'' was launched in 1995. It is being published by IBA Media which also publishes ''Egypt Today'' magazine. The magazine is based in Cairo. The magazine provides political, economical and business news. Egyptian Presidential Election, 2005
Presidential elections were held in Egypt on September 7, 2005, the first to feature more than one candidate. Incumbent president Hosni Mubarak was re-elected for a fifth consecutive six-year term in office, with official results showing he won 88.6% of the vote. Mubarak's main opponent, Ayman Nour, of the Tomorrow Party, is estimated to have received 7.3% of the vote and Numan Gumaa received 2.8%, however, Nour claimed that prior polling results showed over 30%. Criticism of the election process has centred on the process of selecting the eligible candidates, and on alleged election-law violations during voting. Islamic teachings and argument have been used to censor opinions and writings throughout history, up to and including the modern era, and thus there are many cases of censorship in Islamic societies.
