Eesti Otsib Superstaari (season 1)
The first season of Eesti otsib superstaari started on March 11, 2007 and continued until June 14, 2007. It was won by Birgit Õigemeel. The show was hosted by Jüri Nael and Aigi Vahing. The judges were Mihkel Raud, Heidy Purga and Rein Rannap. Auditions Auditions were held in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and Jõhvi in January 2007. The participation was allowed to everybody aged between 16 and 25. 2,500 people sang in auditions and only c. 100 were chosen by the judges to sing at the theatre round. Theatre rounds The theatre round took place in Eesti Nukuteater in Tallinn. After three rounds at the theatre round 32 young singers advanced to the semi-finals. Semi-finals The semifinals took place in April 2007. Four semifinals, plus a 'second chance' semi-final were held in TV3 studios. Mihkel Raud
Mihkel Raud (born 18 January 1969) is an Estonian writer, music artist, actor, and a former member of the Estonian parliament. He is best known for his book ''Musta pori näkku'' and as a former host of an Estonian talk show on TV3. Personal life Mihkel Raud was born the middle of three siblings to children's authors Eno Raud and Aino Raud (''née'' Pervik). His grandfather was playwright, poet and writer Mart Raud. His older brother is scholar and author Rein Raud and his younger sister is artist Piret Raud. Career Mihkel Raud began his career as a child actor. In 1981, he played the role of Tõnn in the Helle Murdmaa-directed musical-family feature film '' Nukitsamees'', based on the 1920 children's story of the same name by Oskar Luts. Sunrise Avenue
Sunrise Avenue was a Finnish rock band originally formed in 2002 in Helsinki, Finland. In the early days, the band was called Sunrise and the name was changed to Sunrise Avenue in 2003. Their style varies from rock and pop-rock to rock ballads. Hero (Chad Kroeger Song)
"Hero" is a song by Canadian musician Chad Kroeger (lead vocalist of Nickelback) and American musician Josey Scott (then lead vocalist of Saliva) for the soundtrack to the 2002 superhero film '' Spider-Man''. Chicago is an American rock music, rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. The group began calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, then shortened the name in 1969. Self-described as a "rock and roll band with Horn (instrument), horns", Chicago's songs often combine elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. Growing out of several bands from the Chicago area in the late 1960s, the line-up consisted of Peter Cetera on bass, Terry Kath on guitar, Robert Lamm on keyboards, Lee Loughnane on trumpet, James Pankow on trombone, Walter Parazaider on Woodwind instrument, woodwinds, and Danny Seraphine on drums. "You're the Inspiration" is a song written by Peter Cetera and David Foster for the group Chicago and recorded for their fourteenth studio album ''Chicago 17'' (1984), with Cetera singing lead vocals. The third single released from that album, it reached on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in January 1985 and also climbed to the top position on the Adult Contemporary chart at the same time. The song won honors for Cetera from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), in 1986 in the most-performed songs category. "I Say a Little Prayer" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick, originally peaking at number four on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 pop singles chart in December 1967. On the R&B Singles chart it peaked at number eight. Dionne Warwick original Intended by lyricist Hal David to convey a woman's concern for her man who's serving in the Vietnam War, "I Say a Little Prayer" was recorded by Dionne Warwick in a 9 April 1966 session. Although Bacharach's recordings with Warwick typically took no more than three takes (often only taking one), Bacharach did ten takes on "I Say a Little Prayer" and still disliked the completed track, feeling it rushed. Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals) and Roger Taylor (Queen drummer), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), later joined by John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and Heavy metal music, heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock. Silvertide
Silvertide is an American rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History Originally named Vertigo, Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in Northeast Philadelphia. At first, the band was signed by J Records, and they released their first EP ''American Excess'' in 2002. Their first full album, ''Show and Tell'', was released in 2004 and produced by David Ivory. After completion of their debut album in 2003, Silvertide hit the road and toured straight until 2006, most notably in support of Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, and Mötley Crüe in the summer of 2004, and Alter Bridge in 2005. Urmas Alender
Urmas Alender (22 November 1953 – 28 September 1994) was an Estonian singer and musician, the vocalist of popular Estonian bands Ruja and Propeller. Born in Tallinn, Estonia, Alender began his musical career in the rock band Shades in 1969 but left the following year to become the vocalist for Andromeeda. In 1971, Alender fronted the progressive rock band Ruja with pianist Rein Rannap. The band was influenced by Western acts such as Genesis, Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and King Crimson, and often incorporated the poetry of Estonian writers Juhan Viiding and Ott Arder into the lyrics.
