Edwin Barnard Martin
Edwin Barnard Martin (11 February 1919 – 16 August 1987) was a Canadian member of the British Free Corps, a component of the armed forces of Nazi Germany, during the Second World War. Martin was born in February 1919 and hailed from Riverside, Ontario. He was a private in the Canadian Army's The Essex Scottish Regiment, who had been captured during the controversial Dieppe Raid in August 1942. In March 1944, he voluntarily left BFC for the isolation camp, by then situated near Schwerin in Mecklenburg.' The Canadian court-martial which heard his case after the war passed a sentence of 25 years imprisonment for being an informer and a member of the British Free Corps. Martin died in Ontario in August 1987 at the age of 68. Martin Brothers
The four Martin Brothers were pottery manufacturers in London from 1873 to 1914. In their own day their Martinware was described as art pottery, and they were one of the earliest potteries making this, but in modern terms they fit better into the studio pottery category, which was invented later. The four brothers (Wallace, Walter, Charles and Edwin) produced a distinctive type of stoneware pottery from the 1870s through to 1914, when their pottery closed, with a little work being produced through to 1923, when the last brother, Robert Wallace Martin, died. Their output included both vessels and figures. They were best known for their bird sculptures and bowls, vessels decorated with sea creatures, and tiles, fashioned in a whimsical but highly skillful style. Ned Martin
Edwin Martin III (August 9, 1923 – July 23, 2002) was an American sportscaster, known primarily as a play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox from 1961 to 1992. Broadcasting career Martin was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Upper Merion Township, where as a youth he was a passionate follower of Philadelphia's two major-league teams, the Athletics and the Phillies. He attended Duke University and played varsity baseball until World War II interrupted his education. Martin joined the United States Marine Corps, where he was a combat veteran and took part in the Battle of Iwo Jima. After the war, he returned to Duke to earn a degree in English literature in 1948. He worked in advertising before beginning his broadcasting career as the play-by-play voice of the minor league Charleston Senators for WCHS (AM) in West Virginia in 1956.
