	Edward Winter (actor) Edward Dean Winter (June 3, 1937 – March 8, 2001) was an American actor. He is best known for his recurring role, Colonel Samuel Flagg, in the television series ''MASH'' from 1973 to 1979. His other notable television roles were as U.S. Air Force investigator Capt. Ben Ryan in season 2 of ''Project U.F.O.'' (1978–1979); and in ''Hollywood Beat'' (1985), ''9 to 5'' (1986–1988), and ''Herman's Head'' (1991–1994). Winter received two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical nominations for his performances in the original productions of ''Cabaret'' (1966) and '' Promises, Promises'' (1968). 	Edward Winter (chess Historian) Edward Winter (born 1955) is an English chess journalist, archivist, historian, collector and author. He writes a regular column on chess history, ''Chess Notes.'' ''Chess Notes'' ''Chess Notes'' started as a bimonthly periodical, and was described by its author, in the first issue (January–February 1982), as "A forum for aficionados to discuss all matters relating to the Royal Pastime". At the end of 1989, the periodical ceased publication. In 1993, Winter resumed publication of ''Chess Notes'', which appeared, this time, as a syndicated column, in many languages around the world. 	Edward Winter (English Administrator) Edward Winter (?1622–1686) was an English administrator employed by the East India Company (EIC). Life The son of William Winter and great-grandson of Admiral Sir William Winter, he was born in 1622 or 1623, and went to India about 1630, probably under the charge of an elder brother, Thomas, who was chief of the Masulipatnam factory in 1647. In 1655 Edward Winter was appointed to the same post, but three years later he was dismissed, whereupon he returned to England, reaching London in the summer of 1660. He had amassed a considerable fortune, and, as he brought home his wife and family, he probably had no intention of going again to the east. The East India Company, however, in reorganising their affairs upon the grant of their new charter (1661), needed the services of an energetic man versed in the affairs of the Coromandel Coast, and were willing to forget their former grievances against his private trading. 	Edward Henry Winter Edward Henry Winter (April 5, 1879 – June 29, 1941) was an American politician and newspaper publisher from the state of Missouri. He served as the state’s 32nd Lieutenant Governor as well as in the Missouri General Assembly. Winter was a member of the Republican Party. Personal history Edward H. Winter was born on his family farm in rural Warren County, Missouri to German immigrant parents Frederick Anton Winter and Dora (Richterberg) Winter. He was the fifth of eleven children born to the couple and had two older half-sisters. Mr. Winter received his education in the rural schools of Warren County. He obtained his higher education at Central Wesleyan College in Warrenton, Missouri, graduating with honors in June 1904.
