Ed Williams (actor)
Edwin Wallace Williams (born November 26, 1926) is an American actor, who played Ted Olsen on the Television program#Seasons/series, TV series ''Police Squad!'' and in ''The Naked Gun'' films. Williams was a broadcasting and speech teacher at Los Angeles City College in Southern California. He retired and then took acting classes. With the help of some contacts, he started acting as a second career. Despite the success of ''The Naked Gun'' films, Williams only had minor roles in other movies, such as ''The Giant of Thunder Mountain'' (1991) and ''Carnosaur (film), Carnosaur'' (1993). Edward Lovell Williams (15September 192524December 2013) was an English cricketer. Williams was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. He was born at Shaftesbury, Dorset. Williams made a single first-class appearance for Leicestershire against Gloucestershire at Grace Road in the 1949 County Championship. In Leicestershire's first-innings of 195 all out, Williams was run out for 10 runs. In Gloucestershire's first-innings response of 449/8 declared, Williams took figures of 2/33 with the ball. In Leicestershire's second-innings of 172 all out, he was dismissed for 3 runs by Sam Cook. Gloucestershire won the match by an innings and 82 runs. This was his only major appearance for the county. He died at Chester, Cheshire on 24 December 2013. Edward Williams (rower)
Edward Gordon Williams (20 July 1888 – 12 August 1915) was a British rower who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. He was killed in action during the First World War. Williams was born at Honiton, Devon, and educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Pitt Club. He rowed for Cambridge in the Boat Race in 1908. The Cambridge crew made up a boat in the eights which won the bronze medal for Great Britain rowing at the 1908 Summer Olympics. He rowed for Cambridge in the Boat Race in 1909 and also in 1909 partnered Banner Johnstone to win the Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta against Julius Beresford and Karl Vernon. He raced in the 1910 Boat Race. Williams was appointed as a colonial administrator in North-Western Rhodesia. He then served in the First World War as a lieutenant with the Grenadier Guards. He was killed in action aged 27 near Béthune and was buried at St. Venant Communal Cemetery nearby.
