Edward Wallington (civil Servant)
Sir Edward William Wallington (7 December 1854 – 12 December 1933) was an English people, English first-class cricketer, colonial administrator in Australia and a member of the British Royal Household. The son of Sir John Wallington, he was born in December 1854 at Oakley, Hampshire. He was educated at Sherborne School, before going up to Oriel College, Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he played first-class cricket for Oxford University Cricket Club, Oxford University, making his debut against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in 1875. He did not feature for Oxford in 1876, but did play a further four matches in 1877, including in that years The University Match (cricket), University Match. He scored 100 runs in his five matches for Oxford, at an batting average (cricket), average of 14.28 and with a high score of 38. Oakley, Hampshire
Oakley is a village in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane in Hampshire, England, located around 4.5 miles (7 km) west of Basingstoke. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 5,322. Together with the smaller village of Deane, it forms the Oakley and Deane civil parish renamed as Oakley at the 2011 Census. Oakley appears in the Domesday Book of 1086. Hallam Tennyson, 2nd Baron Tennyson, (11 August 1852 – 2 December 1928) was a British aristocrat who served as the second governor-general of Australia, in office from 1903 to 1904. He was previously Governor of South Australia from 1899 to 1902. Tennyson was born in Twickenham, Middlesex, and educated at Marlborough College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was the eldest son of the poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and served as his personal secretary and biographer; he succeeded to his father's title in 1892. Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, 3rd Baronet, (26 January 1837 – 28 October 1915), commonly known as Sir Fowell Buxton, was the Governor of South Australia from 29 October 1895 until 29 March 1899. He was the grandson of Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, a British MP and social reformer, and the son of Sir Edward North Buxton, also an MP. He attended Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge.
