Edward W. Stark
Edward W. Stark (December 5, 1869 – January 9, 1935) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Fish Lake Township, Chisago County, Minnesota, Stark was a merchant and lived in Harris, Minnesota. Stark served as Harris village assessor and treasurer. He also served on the Harris school board and was the board clerk. Stark served as probate judge for Chisago County. From 1901 to 1905, Stark served in the Minnesota House of Representatives and was a Republican. His father Lars Johan Stark also served in the Minnesota State Legislature. From 1925 to 1927, Stark served as Minnesota State Treasurer. Stark died suddenly in Center City, Minnesota Center City is a city and the county seat of Chisago County, Minnesota, United States. Fish Lake Township is a township in Chisago County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,012 at the 2010 census. History Fish Lake Township was organized in 1868. It took its name from Fish Lake. Geography The township is located in northwest Chisago County and is bordered to the west and south by Isanti County. To the east is the city of Harris. The unincorporated community of Stark is in the southeast part of the township. Henry Rines (June 9, 1872 – October 5, 1950) was a Minnesota Republican politician, Minnesota State Treasurer, and Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Rines, a newspaper publisher, emigrated as a child from Orsa, Sweden. The state treasurer of Minnesota was a constitutional officer in the executive branch of the U.S. state of Minnesota. Twenty-six individuals occupied the office of state treasurer from 1858 until the office's abolition in 2003. The final state treasurer was Carol C. Johnson, a DFLer. Election and term of office The state treasurer was elected by the people on Election Day in November, and took office on the first Monday of the next January. There was no limit to the number of terms a state treasurer may hold.
