Kingston Upon Hull (UK Parliament Constituency)
Kingston upon Hull, often simply referred to as Hull, was a parliamentary constituency in Yorkshire, electing two members of parliament to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, from 1305 until 1885. Its MPs included the anti-slavery campaigner, William Wilberforce, and the poet Andrew Marvell. History Kingston upon Hull was a borough constituency in the town (later city) of Hull. Until the Great Reform Act of 1832, it consisted only of the parish of St Mary's, Hull and part of Holy Trinity, Hull, entirely to the west of the River Hull. This excluded parts of the urban area which had not been originally part of the town, but some of these – the rest of Holy Trinity parish, Sculcoates, Drypool, Garrisonside and part of Sutton-on-Hull – were brought into the constituency by boundary changes in 1832. Minehead was a parliamentary borough in Somerset, forming part of the town of Minehead, which elected two Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons from 1563 until 1832, when the borough was abolished by the Great Reform Act. Sir Edward Rogers ( – 3 May 1568Officers of the Greencloth, List of Comptrollers) was an English gentleman who served as an Officer of State in various capacities during the Tudor period. He rose to become Comptroller and Vice-Chamberlain of the Household to Elizabeth I of England from 1560 to 1568. Edward Rogers is a Los Angeles–based musician and composer for film and television. He has written the music for several television series, including ''Bloodline'' (Netflix), ''Warehouse 13'' (Syfy), ''NYPD Blue'' (ABC), ''Over There'' ( FX), and ''Alphas'' (Syfy) as well as numerous films, advertising spots and television movies. In 2014 he co-wrote the score for ''The Bag Man'' starring Robert De Niro, John Cusack and Crispin Glover with composer Tony Morales. He collaborated with Morales again on the first season of ''Bloodline'', released in March 2015. This is a chronological list of presidents of the Methodist Conference of the Methodist Church of Great Britain and its predecessor churches. John Wesley, founder of Methodism, organised and presided over the first Methodist Conference, which was to become the church's governing body. This article lists his successors, who are elected by the Conference to serve a one-year term. Presidents follow Wesley's example in travelling the length and breadth of Great Britain, visiting and preaching in local Methodist chapels. Edward Rogers (May 30, 1787 – May 29, 1857) was an American lawyer and politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from New York from 1839 to 1841. Biography Born in Cornwall, Connecticut, Rogers completed preparatory studies and was graduated from Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1809. He moved to New York State about the close of the War of 1812. He was graduated from Yale College. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Madison, New York. Political career He served as delegate to the State convention to revise the constitution in 1822. He served as judge of the court of common pleas for Madison County. Congress Rogers was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1839 – March 3, 1841). Later career and death He resumed the practice of law. He also engaged in literary pursuits.
