Edward Moreno
Edward Moreno Alonso is a Puerto Rican educator and former Secretary of Education of Puerto Rico. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and resident of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico earned a Bachelor of Arts in Language Arts from the University of Puerto Rico. Then, in 1992, he completed a Master's degree in Administration and Supervision of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Subsequently In 2002 he completed his studies obtaining a Doctorate in School Administration at Dowling College. He began his career in public service in 1984 as a Adapted Physical Education Teacher at the Casiano Cepeda High School in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. He also worked from 1985 to 1991 as an Adapted Physical Education Teacher at the Agustín Cabrera Intermediate School in Carolina, Puerto Rico. During his career, he has received the Manuel A. Fort Lauderdale () is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. The 2008 New Progressive Party primaries were the primary elections by which voters of the New Progressive Party (PNP) chose its nominees for various political offices of Puerto Rico, namely the position of governor, for the 2008 general elections. Resident Commissioner Luis Fortuño was selected as the nominee at the primary elections held on March 9, 2008. He would go on to win the 2008 general election as well. Background Pedro Rosselló had come from a defeat against Aníbal Acevedo Vilá at the 2004 elections. Despite that, he managed to gain a seat in the Senate. Luis Guillermo Fortuño Burset (born 31 October 1960) is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States, from 2009 to 2013. Fortuño served as the first secretary of economic development and commerce of Puerto Rico (1994–1997), as the executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (1993–1994), and as the president of the Puerto Rico Hotel Development Corporation during the administration of Pedro Rosselló. ''El Vocero de Puerto Rico'' is a Puerto Rican free newspaper that is published in San Juan.
