Edward M. Carmouche
Edward Moss Carmouche Sr. (June 21, 1921 – April 6, 1990), was an attorney in his native Lake Charles, Louisiana, who during the 1960s was a leader of the nationalist faction of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Background Carmouche was the eldest child of Paul Frederick Carmouche (1899-1971) and the former Alice Anne Moss (1899-1996). In 1943, he received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and entered the United States Army during World War II, in which he served as a captain in the European Theater of Operations. The 1956 Democratic National Convention nominated former Governor Adlai Stevenson of Illinois for president and Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee for vice president. It was held in the International Amphitheatre on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois August 13–August 17, 1956. Unsuccessful candidates for the presidential nomination included Governor W.
