Edward Jurkiewicz
Edward Jurkiewicz (born 22 January 1948 in Pruszcz Gdański, Poland) is a Polish former professional basketball player. During his playing career, he was a 1.95 m tall (6' 4") tall small forward. He was a member of the senior Polish national team. Professional career Jurkiewicz was a member of the FIBA European Selection, in 1971. National team career Jurkiewicz was a member of the senior Polish national team. He was named to the 1969 EuroBasket's All-Tournament Team. He led the 1971 EuroBasket in scoring, averaging 22.6 points per game. His performance at the tournament earned him another selection to the All-Tournament Team. Pruszcz Gdański (; former pl, Pruszcz; german: Praust) is a town in Pomerania, northern Poland with 26,834 inhabitants (2010). Pruszcz Gdański is an industrial town neighbouring Gdańsk, part of the Tricity, Poland, Tricity urban agglomeration, agglomeration. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. The Poland men's national basketball team ( pl, Reprezentacja Polski w koszykówce) represents Poland in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Polish Basketball Federation (PZKosz). Poland has competed at the EuroBasket on 28 occasions, with their best performance at the tournament coming in 1963, as hosts, finishing as runners-up.
