Edward Harbottle Grimston
The Honourable Edward Harbottle Grimston (born 2 April 1812 at Mayfair, London; died 4 May 1881 at Pebmarsh, Essex) was an English amateur cricketer and a Conservative Party politician who held a seat in the House of Commons from 1835 to 1841. George Alfred Muskett
George Alfred Muskett (1785-31 January 1843) was a British banker and politician, who served as the Member of Parliament for St Albans from 1837 to 1841. Muskett began his career as a partner in a chemical works in Southwark, which produced dyes and varnishes. In 1808, he eloped with Mary Ann Hapgood, an eighteen-year-old heiress; as she was a ward of court, this was illegal without the court's permission, and Muskett was imprisoned in the Fleet. With the aid of his lawyer, Samuel Romilly, Muskett arranged a settlement and was released. Mary Ann died the following year, in April 1809, leaving all her inheritance to Muskett. He remarried in 1811, to Sarah Cook (a cousin of Mary Ann), with whom he had two daughters, Mary Ann and Selina. Using his first wife's fortune, Muskett's business ventures expanded heavily over the following years, owning a large number of properties in and around London, as well as tin mines in Cornwall and the Cilgwyn (Kilgwin) quarry in Wales. Henry George Ward
Sir Henry George Ward GCMG (27 February 17972 August 1860) was an English diplomat, politician, and colonial administrator. Early life He was the son of Robert Ward (who in 1828 changed his surname by sign manual to Plumer Ward) and his first wife Catherine Julia Maling, daughter of Christopher Thompson Maling of West Herrington, County Durham; and the cousin of William Ward and William George Ward. He was born in London on 27 February 1797. Educated at Harrow School, and sent abroad to learn languages, he became in 1816 attaché to the British legation at Stockholm, under Sir Edward Thornton. He was transferred to The Hague in 1818, and to Madrid in 1819. He was appointed joint commissioner to Mexico in October 1823, and returned to England in 1824 and he married Emily Elizabeth Swinburne in London on 8 April. Sir Francis Vincent, 10th Baronet (3 March 1803 – 6 July 1880) was an English Whig politician. Early life Vincent was born in Bloomsbury on 3 March 1803. He was a son of Sir Francis Vincent, 9th Baronet and Jane (née Bouverie) Vincent. Edward Hyde Villiers, 5th Earl of Clarendon, (11 February 1846 – 2 October 1914), styled Lord Hyde between 1846 and 1870, was a British Liberal Unionist politician from the Villiers family. The Honourable Robert Grimston (born 18 September 1816 at Mayfair, London; died 7 April 1884 at Gorhambury House, Hertfordshire) was an English amateur cricketer and a pioneer of electric telegraphy. Career Grimston was educated at Harrow School and Christ Church, Oxford. Ruskin, who was a fellow-undergraduate and Christ Church, described him as "a man of gentle birth and amiable manners, and of herculean strength, whose love of dogs and horses, and especially of boxing, was stupendous." James Walter Grimston, 2nd Earl of Verulam (20 February 1809 – 27 July 1895), known as Viscount Grimston from 1815 to 1845, was a British peer and Conservative politician. He was the eldest son of James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam, and Lady Charlotte Jenkinson. He succeeded his father as 2nd Earl of Verulam in November 1845. In 1860, The Times noted that Grimston was one of only three to hold peerages in all three Kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland. James Walter Grimston, 1st Earl of Verulam (26 September 1775 – 17 November 1845), styled Lord Dunboyne from 1775 until 1808 and known as the 4th Viscount Grimston from 1808 to 1815, was a British peer and politician. Life and career He was the son of James Grimston, 3rd Viscount Grimston of Gorhambury House and Harriot Walter. In 1802 he was elected to the House of Commons for St Albans, a seat he held until 1808, when he succeeded his father as fourth Viscount Grimston and second Baron Verulam and entered the House of Lords. The latter year, he also succeeded his maternal cousin as tenth Lord Forrester. In 1815 he was created Viscount Grimston and Earl of Verulam in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. He later held the honorary post of Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire from 1823 to 1845.
