Ed Crane (baseball)
Edward Nicholas Crane (May 27, 1862 – September 20, 1896), nicknamed ''Cannonball'', was an American right-handed pitcher and outfielder in Major League Baseball for eight seasons. He played for the Boston Reds (1884), Providence Grays (1885), Buffalo Bisons (1885), Washington Nationals (1886), New York Giants (NL) (1888–89, 1892–93), New York Giants (PL) (1890), Cincinnati Kelly's Killers (1891), Cincinnati Reds (1891), and Brooklyn Grooms (1893). Crane was the first pitcher in the history of major league baseball to record 4 strikeouts in a single inning (New York Giants, 1888), and is one of the few players to play in four major leagues: the Union Association, the National League, the Players' League, and the American Association. Born in Boston, Cannonball Crane was a man of uncommon strength. In his prime, he was described as "a giant in physical strength and proportions."

Ed Crane (journalist)
Ed Crane has been reporting on radio and television since 1979. He has been an anchor for the CBS radio and television networks and was also an anchor for the network's AM flagship in New York City, WCBS. Career Crane graduated from Northwestern University. He started his career in 1979, working at WIFR-TV in Rockford, Illinois. In 1982, after working for WBBM in Chicago, he joined the CBS Radio Network where, for 18 years, he presented hourly newscasts as well as the '' World News Roundup'' and special reports. He went on to be a reporter and presenter for ''MarketWatch'' in the early 2000s and occasionally presented the CBS News TV broadcast '' Up to the Minute''. Crane has also reported for WCBS-TV in New York City, and anchored for WCBS-AM, New York. He is a recipient of the Chicago Headline Club Award. Ed Crane (politician)
Edward Harrison Crane (born August 15, 1944) is an American libertarian and co-founder of the Cato Institute. He served as its president until October 1, 2012. In the 1970s, he was one of the most active leaders within the Libertarian Party. He directed the Party as its National Chair from 1974 to 1977, worked on John Hospers's Presidential bid and managed Ed Clark's 1978 campaign for Governor of California. In 1980, Crane served as communications director to the Libertarian Party presidential ticket of Clark and vice presidential candidate David Koch. Prior to founding the Cato Institute, Crane was chartered financial analyst and vice president of Alliance Capital in California. Crane has been a member of the board of various political organizations, including Americans for Limited Government, a group that assists grassroots efforts throughout the country, and the Center for Competitive Politics.
