Edward Carey (businessman)
Edward Francis Carey Sr. (1832 – September 10, 1908) was a Canadian gold prospector, fur trader, and merchant. He was also politician in Alberta, Canada serving briefly as a municipal councillor in Edmonton. Carey was born in Upper Canada in 1832. Intrigued by the opportunity to gain a fortune in gold, he was quickly drawn to the California Gold Rush, and later to British Columbia, where he prospected for gold along with his partner, Bill Cust. In the 1860s, the duo would make major discoveries of gold in the Parsnip River and in Peace River, leading to gold rushes when news spread of the discoveries. Carey later went into the fur trade, establishing himself at Peace River, and later, Lac la Biche. After spending a couple years in the fur trade, he went into the general merchant business, establishing stores in Manitoba, and later in Edmonton, North West Territories, where he would move to in 1882. Edward Carey (novelist)
Edward Carey (born April 1970, in North Walsham, Norfolk, England) is a playwright and novelist. He has written several adaptations for the stage, including Patrick Süskind's ''The Pigeon'' and Robert Coover's ''Pinocchio in Venice''. His own plays include ''Sulking Thomas'' and ''Captain of the Birds''. He collaborated with Eddin Khoo on the '' wayang kulit'' translation of ''Macbeth'' called ''Macbeth in the Shadows''. Biography Carey attended the Nautical College, Pangbourne, as did his father and grandfather. He did not enlist in the Royal Navy, however. Instead, he participated in the National Youth Theatre and attended the University of Hull, earning a degree in drama in 1991. As a young Man, Carey worked in Madame Tussauds wax museum (London), which would figure into his historical novel, ''Little''. Edward "Ned" Carey (born February 7, 1962 in Brooklyn Park, Maryland) is an American politician who was Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 31A, based in Anne Arundel County, from 2015 to 2023. Early life and career Carey was born in Brooklyn Park, Maryland, where he has lived for his entire life. He attended Brooklyn Park High School, and earned a B.A. in urban planning from University of Maryland, College Park in 1984. Before serving in the House of Delegates, Carey worked as the chief administrative officer at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. Scarborough was the name of a constituency in Yorkshire, electing Members of Parliament to the House of Commons, at two periods. Edward Macdonald Carey (March 15, 1913 – March 21, 1994) was an American actor, best known for his role as the patriarch Dr. Tom Horton on NBC's soap opera ''Days of Our Lives''. For almost three decades, he was the show's central cast member.
